Captell does not actually collect the required data but manages the retrieval, storage, collation, summarisation and reporting of data produced from other proprietary monitoring products.

The Captell system is comprised of four major components:

Captell Workbench

Used by “Update” and “Admin” users to maintain the Captell databases, the Captell workbench is used to build and update Captell report objects. The Captell Workbench is installed on each Admin and Update user’s workstation.

Captell Service

Provides background scheduled updates to the Captell database. The Captell Service is installed on the same hardware as the Captell database as part of the Workbench installation.

Captell Database

Captell utilises the Microsoft’s SQL Server™ database. SQL Server may be installed locally on the Captell users desktop or on a windows server platform. Either SQL Server Standard, Enterprise or the included SQL Server Express edition may be used.

Captell Web

Captell utilises Microsoft Internet Information System (IIS) to support its web services. The Captell web components can be installed on any platform running IIS and present the reports found in the Captell database to Browse users. Users are able to change report object parameters within the browser thereby a single report object may be used for several different subjects.
